About Colchester Morris Men
Friday nights are dance nights, from 8.00pm at pubs around
Colchester and surrounding villages, with a few in Suffolk.
In May we start with a day tour of Colchester,
we often attend the Thaxted ring meeting on Saturday.
We tour Norfolk for a weekend in August and
at the end of the season we arrange a tour of Suffolk.
Our shows generally last for three quarters of an hour.
We can be booked to dance for you for a fee
(refreshments are acceptable) the programme is usually set
by February, so get those enquiries in early.
We're always happy to see new members and if you're a
musician looking for a challenge then that's good too.
We practise during the winter on a Friday Night
from 8.00pm in Colchester (Mile End Road).
If you see us, ask for details, look out for 'What's On' in the local papers or call Robin (The Bagman) on 01206 578150
you can also email us via the link on our home page.
The Colchester Club was founded in 1926, disbanded during World War II and re-established in 1953, remaining active ever since.
We dance out in the summer from May to September, and on Boxing Day at the Wivenhoe Black Buoy (12.30).
Our repertoire is mainly Cotswold and a bit of Border Morris. Our musicians play accordions, melodeons, concertinas and some purcussion. We've also been known to sing in the pub after the show, but only if the muse takes us.
